Penghulu oh penghulu......

Today,i would like to deviate a bit from my normal curtain and crafty story.And this is going to be quite a long post.So read only if you have the time.....saja nak let out some steam...but better not mention any names...

I thank allah for all the rezeki that has been pouring lately..And the latest was my youngest son who was awarded the Mara Loan..to finance his education in one of the University College locally...itu pun selepas mak nye ,thats me...,merayu as his application was turned down on the first round.None of  my children had this kind of privilege.. PRIVILEGE ?...if i can say so lah....sampai masa kene bayor jugak kan!Takpe lah ..when that time is due to repay the loan....pandai2 lah anak ku membayornye..

Anyway,sebelum  dapat merasa duit nye ,  banyak lah pulak dokumen yang nak di sign and endorse..Mak nye jugak lah lari ke sana kemari nak dapatkan pelbagai pengesahan...semua dokumen kene siap dalam sehari dua ini....I ran the same distance at the time of application....rasanye bolih menang marathon larian nih....

Yang paling-paling saya tak bekenan kene dapat sign Penghulu or ADUN ke atas penyata pencen bapa nye...thats my dear hubby...Aduhai ... kita ni dah hidup dalam 20th century...kenapa lah nak masuk kampung pulak dapat pengesahan Tok Penghulu....Kesian depa,the Tok Penghulu and ADUN,i am sure they have more important affairs of the rakyat to attend to kan..Bukan ke senang kalau pergi aje kat sekolah berdekatan and dapatkan pegesahan Guru Besor...

Hmmm........by 2.30pm i completed all the pengesahan and all documents were sent by express pos laju to the relevant authorithy....Hopefully they arrive safely and on time..anyway i have fax all documents before posting..just in case the parcel sesat entah kemana pulak..Tapi Pos laju Malaysia...kan dijamin sampai esok hari!

Patience pay off

A couple of weeks ago i went hunting high and low for a book on bag making..When i finally found  the book store i was dismayed as the last book was sold a couple of minutes before my arrival.The sales person was kind enough to call another outlet which happens to have the book...but its about 45 minutes away from my place.


So with a heavy heart i place my order and a deposit of  RM52.50 equivalent to half of the price of the book which was selling at RM105 at that time and the waiting time was 3 weeks.


And so today almost 4 weeks later i finally received THE BAG MAKING BIBLE,by LISA LAM...she has a great blog here at  U-handblog and it now cost only RM74.90....so i only paid a balance of RM22.40..

Woweee....this book is much better than the last bag book i bought.The explanation  are crystal clear to understand to a beginner like me.The photos rhymes well with the instructions.The font of the words makes the text visible and its a real bonus..Now i know that all along i have been making bags the right way..hihihi....!Well sometimes when you don't get the proper guidance and just bulldoze through doing things,like me.,i sometimes wonder if i am missing anything along the way..Well not anymore..I am more confident now...

Sesiapa nak join sew along Patchwork Wallet

singgah lah disini....Saya jadi pemerhati aje..Looks like fun but i am overladen with Hari Raya curtain job and have to sew along with my staffs..hihihi


For starters look at these fabrics arrived late yesterday evening.

All 150 meters are for Tiara House,.Taman Setiawangsa.Another 30 meters are still out of stock due to the Hari Raya rush.I hope to complete this job by the end of this month.All the night curtains will be in pinch pleat..Just got one set ready...

Just letting myself go on a beautiful monday morning...

While waiting for the delivery man to sent my Fabric supplies for this week i had fun drawing and just following my heart go with these scraps..I am not quite sure where i am heading to but i just knew that i had to keep my hands busy with the scissors and the pencil...hihihi.

First i drew the floral design using a template on the green market  fabric

Then i did the same thing on a hard interfacing

All are cut  and arrange  in three stacks.

While i stop to think of the next step.....hmmm yes !..the Delivery man came and spolit my thoughts.Looks like i have to shovel these beauties for awhile for a more serious project.Will marvel about the fabrics later..Great day to start the week..Hope your Monday is just as great as mine......

The house is smelling fresh and clean.My garden has been sprinkled with water and potassium...and now a little booster for my tummy while waiting for Mr Toshiba..

Curtain face lifts.

These pelmets were sewn a couple of months ago with just a simple binding at the edges...Today ...about 3 months later the pelmets were brought down on customer's request and some beading were embellish to give it a more polished look...so to speak.

Beginning of the week ending June.

Its only tuesday...i am already drained,and i guess its going to be one hectic week here at my work station like always when it is a month away from Ramadan.A common scenario at time like this customers come arm with the door and window dimensions  , flipping sample books ,eyeing at curtain patterns and not forgetting some have already brought in curtain materials from all over the place...Nilai Square,Nagoya,Jakel,Tewah....just to mention a few...everybody wants to take advantage of the Great Mega Sale isn't it...


This is my second day busy attending to customers up front...i wonder what my two girls are "cooking" at the back.By 5 o'clock i am already knockout..I just managed to get a shot of this baby quilt for Kak Ann.

All these pretty cozies are for my sister Rozita.Hope she likes it and will brighten up her newly cabineted kitchen.The materials are remnants from her curtains which needed alteration a few months ago. Remnants have been repurpose and put to good use..


Mana bole tahan tengok orang punya manis2..So 
made another rice cooker cozy for me self.Yee hah!

Two updates in a day ..What a beautiful Thursday ..

Despite the fact that my old car refuse to start this morning due to battery failure...i am glad that my own body battery is fully charged..


What else to do if you are not mobile?I would just stay indoors and sew to my heart's content.Another patchwork baby quilt completed.Thanx to Juli who helped me quilt and bind..since i watch her work like a hawk,the 43inch x 60 inch baby quilt was completed in 2 hours...for Kak Ann

A bundle of joy.Cotton materials are from Cotton Cottage Patch,Ampang,Ulu Kelang.

Sometimes i just let myself go wild with colors..

While rummaging through my basket of organized scraps and remnants,i discovered that i have some strong colors ....hibernating since year 2005....just look at this green frills.....

And i made another...

I don't think i can sleep on this loud colored pillow,but i like it just as a decorative effect on my plain white bed linens.On days when i get up and i just need something cheery to jazz up bed ,this funky pillow cover is a real booster.Just give it a try.Also a fun way to utilize all the remnants..

And i also made 2 small size pillows for hugs.,also from remnants....

And one piece tissue box cozy...

This tissue cozy is so simple to make...also great with remnants..

And another tissue cozy...huhuhu this one is dddificult  but so simple and sweet..worth the effort!

My modified teardrop bag inspired by Amy Butler..

My hands were itching to try on Amy Butler's Style Stitches book on bag making...the only thing that i followed closely  was her template...the rest was just fluke ...merely following the flow of my hand and the little basics that i have mastered on my own through trial and error and not forgetting patience and passion..With a stroke of luck .,i manage to make this....

No inter facing  at all.I was afraid i will not be able to handle the bulkiness with the use of interfacing..true enough!i was struggling with the handle and also the top band.I am so used to making quilted bags and bulkiness is just my cup of tea..but somehow i got screwed up with this simple bag...


Looks like i need to try at doing another teardrop bag...this time the larger version and with interfacing and the real handles and following closely to Amy's book ..huhuhu

A handsome comforter ....i am running out of ideas when it comes to making up the male bed..

But some how you can never go wrong with stripes and checks.This time i decide to give a go with stripes.This white green cotton stripe can spruce up any bachelor's room .It is simple..no frills..just a 2 inch border on the sides to give the extra width.The pillow cover is not quilted.

This is a queen size bed comforter nicely wrapped waiting for the owner.It is floral on one side and plain pink on the reverse.The double tone frill at the edges gives this comforter extra sweetness...and being  reversible.,it is like getting 2 in one..

The face that i am missing dearly...

A lacy bow on the door to invite and welcome my beloved customers...

This door looks so drabby and lonesome on its own.So i cook up a friend to keep it company while waiting for friends,customers and guests.

Baby moses basket in ikea fabric..

This baby basket was brought into my shop by Siska;who is about 7 months into her pregnancy.She just wanted a simple basket cover without quilting.

The ikea fabric had lots of cheerful color and finding a coordinating fabric was a breeze.So i pick this white polka dot.The blue background really complements the white ikea fabric.I also affix a simple piping around the edges of the basket in the same polka dot fabric.Hope Siska is happy with this baby cover as much i enjoy sewing it.

The bed skirt is accompanied by 2 bolsters,one tissue box cover,2 bows and 2 ribbons as requested by customer.

This is my first try at making a tissue box cosy with two openings...

The top opening is for dispensing the tissues

The side opening which i made a bit larger is to slot the tissue box in.I affixed the velcro for closure.

Blue,grey bedskirt for a wedding in Singapore..

This bed skirt was made a month ago for dear SIL's brother's wedding in Singapore.I was not able to blog about it as Blogger was having fun  serving maintenance to my blog.This is actually my first attempt at doing a pattern of this kind.A two tone bed skirt with double frill and lace details .Kind of like the outcome.Hope both the bride and bridegroom is happy with the bedskirt.And thanx to dear Su for having confidence in my sewing skillsWe all.had a nice time sewing up the bed skirt.

I have been bitten by the white bug..

How long and frequent do my blog needs maintenance.?

For the past few days i was not able to post in my own blog or even comment on other blogs.Nasib baik i was able to surf the website..hmmmm..What maintenance is being done i am not quite sure.Everything seems to look just the same..except that now i am on the sign in mode all the time...The sign out mode is not functioning...talk about maintenance... Sure spoil my blogging mood!

Table top covers made from curtain lace.

I was quite disappointed when i just could not find beautiful laces to adorn on my round table ..So during my weekly shopping at NAGOYA,i found a beautiful sheer  curtain which had 4 layer of laces arranged horizontally across the width of the curtain which suddenly gave me an idea.Yes!I bought 10 meters of the curtain lace,and cut the laces according to drop that i want,and they turn out to be gorgeous.Check it out at http://thesewingedge.blogspot.com/

Ribbon talk....relating ribbons to curtains

.........this post constitutes PART TWO in answering RINA's sms question on ribbons...The size of the ribbons really depends on where you like it to be...whether it is to embellish the tie backs or as accessory for a valance..Or sometimes ribbons with long tail can look adorable on picture frames.

Here in NYKOLETT..there are about 4 sizes of ribbons which are my favourite.Jump over here to get a closer look..

It has been a bit quiet here ...

I have been overwhelmed by the multitude of activities running around here at my home ground as well as at my work station.By the time i reach home i just want to be in the comfort of my room and snooze...For the past couple of weeks every thing needed my attention...so whats new  ehh! The renovation work at home is getting into the third week ..All the dust and the shifting of furniture closely against the wall to make way for the workers has make my once comfortable home a ghastly sight.I am glad every thing will be completed by tomorrow once the door to the new room is installed.So in the mean time i have to stay quietly in my room throughout he night as i just could not tolerate the smell of new paints and the dusty furniture in the living downstairs.


But over at my work station,its a totally different scenario.My two girls are such great workers.They have completed tremendous work without much supervision.Curtains for Datin Natasha is done and up.Bedskirt for Su's brother's wedding in Singapore on 15th.Mei is also ready...another queen size bed skirt in white is also completed for Puan Ani.

But too bad i am not able to post any photos now..am just too tired.But not to worry.I will soon upload the photos once i get back my blogging mood...by the way i can't wait to complete the sew along applique ...looks like i have been left far behind..
