Some curtains for Hari Raya Haji.

Another two weeks before Hari Raya Haji..Ade jugak yang tempah langsir baru kerana tak sempat buat persiapan for the last raya puasa....so here are some  of the ready curtains...

This is for Sharifah's main living.She lives in Kemensah Heights,Taman Melawati.

Yang ini pulak swag and tail in the making.But apparently one set is ready for Siti's window.Kamariah is working another set for the sliding door as shown in the photo above.

It should be hanging on her wooden curtain rod.But as for now one is resting on my makeshift alluminiun trek at my shop just to enable me to check on the pleats.

And lets see what Nurol is working on pulak.Shes my latest staff who joined NYKOLETT earlier this month.Still on the job training.

She is quilting a cover for a swinging baby cot which arrived late yesterday evening.The owner.WANI wants it ready by wednesday for a majlis cukur jambul over the weekend.Such a short notice...*sigh*Looks like both Kamariah and Nurol will have to work on this crib on monday..Lets take a look at the crib/cradle..

Oh yes...comel aje....it will be in white with lacy frills and 5 sets of  pink ribbons will embellish this white beauty...Sempat ke buat ni????.....keeping my fingers cross...

More scraps on the way.....

to Kamila,Ahmad Saifuddin,Hamisah and Hajjah Ahadiah...Semua dah hantar this morning...Lihat lah....Bila dah dapat nanti bagitau ya...takut ,kalau tak sampai kene lah goncang pos office nih.I have added more scraps for every one just to utilise the box to the fullest...baru lah berbaloi dengan postage RM6 hinggit tu hihih..Dont forget to sent me one of your artwork.I love receiving handmade stuffs...

As for Aziah aka handmadebygee....yourrs will be sent on monday cos i just received your e mail pagi ni...

Lepas material scraps teringat pulak my other remnants cording,ruche,laces.....misc..they are all in different colours,size and shapes..ade berambu and ade berbatu...alah pening lah...nak buang rasa sayang...nak simpan tak tau nak buat ape since they are remnants the meterage is limited for cusions and curtains.Come take a look...

But after 30 minutes of choosing and loosening these
entanglements........(ade ke english word for this....hihihi)

 Baru susun 5 longgok dah nak pengsan....baik lah pegi potong kain langsir yang da mula berlonggok untuk hari raya haji..Ade sesiapa sedia membantu saya dikedai NYKOLETT,sila bagi tau ya..Upah nye ialah................ape lagi......more scraps!  kakaka..Kalau dah susun betul2 rupa nye lebih kurang macam dibawah ini..

No need to be jealous..Anybody can do this and doesn't take too much time ..Kalau malas order saja kat NYKOLETT..hihihi

Begini lah caranye menquilt.Tangan dua tu kene pegang kain and tolak keatas sambil kaki menekan pedal..Model ialah Kamariah ,pembantu khas saya...Bila dah cantum all the quillted scraps and berpandu pada kotak buruk tadi tengok lah hasil nye.

View from the inside.  Kak guna gambar sample curtains from bygone days as stiffener to give shape to the quilted box.This is my first attempt at doing boxes .Ade banyak kekurangan..takpe atleast dapat train Kamariah and let her have a feel at doing quilt boxes..The inner definitely needs to be covered..

Now jom tengok strips of fabric yang tak kurang yummylicious.Siapa nak bagi tau kak.They are great for patchwork.

Sesiapa pun layak untuk mengambil bahagian dalam giveaway ni..janji bila dah siap you have to sent to me one of your artwork..Sent through the post office ya..bukan sekadar post in your respective blogs aje ...hihihi....Don't worry..the size of these remnants can accomodate at least 3 small projects.Sesiapa nak coba quilting bole belasah kain2 ni....Only one set per person ya...

Machine quilting is a simple skill to master.As long as ....

you can sew a straight line,with little practice and loads of patience and maybe passion??you can tackle any quilting project.And make sure you have all the time to yourself cos a simple project will make you engross and time just flies...You just need 2 pieces of material and a batting in between the 2 materials to give weight .I only use two types of pattern in my shop for my comforters all requiring you to master the skill of sewing straight ...either diagonals or squares.

What kind of machine you need???There are many types of quilting machine in this world..Tapi yang kak pakai kat kedai ni is the simple high speed machine.Ade macam2 jenama kat kedai mesin.Yang kak ade ialah JUKI,BROTHER and SINGER..In fact any sewing machine yang bolih jahit straight line bole jahit quilt.

Macam mana pulak cara nak jahit???..Oh yes ...you must know the right. technique before venturing into any quilting project.For beginners you are always tempted to put the two pieces of material  with the batting in between and go straight to the machine and press the foot..Kalau buat macam tu memang hancurrrrrrr....hahaha its definitely not that simple lah....Just follow the following simple steps:

a) Make your choice of pattern whether square or diagonal..Sorry, i am at home while posting this..kalau   kat   kedai bolih letak gambar2 square and diagonal pattern quilt.

b) Lepas tu you have to draw ....with your hands lah...the pattern on to the material...just draw on one side only.The size is really up to you.For placemats and baby baskets 2 inch square or diagonal is pretty sweet.But for bigger projects like comforters 6 inch will be just nice..tak lah jenuh mendraw and menjahit hihihi.

c) After having drawn the square or diagonal lines...place the fiber or sponge in between the two materials and handstitch ya..Just simple 2 inch stitch in straight lines randomly..(Jangan stitch on the drawn lines pulak.). to make sure the two materials are well intact with the batting in between..Kalau tak handstitch nanti bila kita jahit kat atas mesin bahagian bawah batting akan berkedut masa jahit sebab bila kita jahit kite nampak bahagian atas sahaja...bahagian bawah akan lari.Tapi kalau dah jelujur dulu this problem will not occur..Kalau tak percaya cuba lah jahit tanpa handstitch..memang sakit jiwa!!

d) After siap handstitch baru bole bawa ke mesin and machine stitch on the drawn lines.

Kalau pakai sponge as batting lagi rumit sebab sponge keras sikit..Make sure there is another material below the sponge..kalau tak de material beneath the sponge memang mesin tak bole jalan smoothly...sponge pun akan koyakkkkkk.

So with that i end my tips yang panjang lebar nih..Hope my tips dapat bagi panduan kepada mereka yang in doubt specially to Mila and Zana....Kalau nak practical training sila lah berkunjung ke NYKOLETT...of course you will be charged a small fee...but you will enjoy the simple quilting session..

PS.For those who have extra money to splash try and buy the LONG ARM QUILTING MACHINE..dont ask me what it is...i know nuts about this machine..i only know that it makes quilting a breeze and a bliss..check it out on the website..

Sedikit maklumat mengenai batting yang saya guna...

Ini adalah maklumbalas kepada E-mail yang saya terima dari ZANA ..Untuk comforter saya gunakan fiber nipis yang sesuai untuk iklim negara kite yang agak panas.Ukuran nye ialah 90 inci dan untuk comforter set kite perlu about 2.5 meters...so dapat satu queen saiz comforter dan dua sarung bantal.So kalau 2.5 meters it looks like so....below...

I like to use this polyfiber for most of my comforter projects because after quillting the surface looks fluffy and memang lembut and tak panas..Of course they are a bit expensive  about RM15 per meter..But for people like me who purchase in bulk we do get a fair price..hihihi...But for other things i use sponge for batting example chair covers,placemats,tissue covers,baby baskets...practically any quilting project yang tak go in direct contact to our skin.Sponge are a bit hard and after quilting it doesnt go fluffy like the fiber.So sponge are not reccomended for comforter projects...Panas pun ia jugak.Sponge are cheaper..They are sold in bundles of 2 meters with 44 inch width at     RM 6.00.

The baby moses set...

For the benefit of WANI from KL,i am posting the full set moses baby basket again.This time the full package.Upah RM150.Here it goes.

It is fully quilted didalam.Lets have a closer look ok...

Theres an extra tilam just to raise the basket for easy reach to babies for newly mums who just cannot stretch to far down because of the stitches...huhuhu..if you know whait i mean.....

And a few details to show off for your viewing pleasure...

 The basket is almost fully covered beneath and fitted with tali getah to give a good grip.The basket cover can be easily remove for washing.

And this  is on its way to Ipoh to meet his new owner Rozana Mat Isa.I will not be charging any postage or handling fees..But Both of you will be receiving 3 sets each and not two..You will have to sent back to me one set of your artwork......Fair deal kan!!!!Will post them through special delivery tomorrow...

The pathetic looking basket is going for a makeover..hihihi

Sedih kan tengok bakul ni..Pun china tu nak jual mahal RM80 hinggit...ish,ish,ish...Macam baru kutip kat tong sampah aje ..hihihi..Now take a look at the transformation work..

Ini baru 90% siap..Esok pagi baru siap sempurna.And in the mean time i manage to get the 4 bantals ready for Kak Raja Fadillah.

So... with that tinggal curtains aje to be completed.
